About SendTheLetter
A letter with a song, made personal.
Write a note, add a song or photos if you like, and choose a design that fits. Send a private link by default, or choose to share your letter in Public Browse.
Write a letterHow it works
- Write your letter. Add the words you want to say and a recipient name or code name.
- Make it yours. Choose a theme and, if you want, attach a song, photos, stickers, or your own audio.
- Choose who sees it. Send the complete private link, or deliberately opt into Public Browse so others can discover and read it.
Your privacy choice
Private is selected when you start a new letter. A private letter is encrypted in your browser before it is stored. Its key stays in the complete link, so only someone with that link can open the full letter. Name search may show that a sealed letter exists, but it cannot reveal the letter without the complete link.
Public Browse is an explicit choice. Public letters are stored in readable form and can appear in Browse and search, including their names, words, song, and artwork. Share publicly only what you are comfortable letting anyone see. Read the Privacy page for more detail.
Questions people ask
Does the recipient need an account?
No. Use a name or code name when writing. Names are for finding letters, not verified identities or passwords. A private recipient still needs the complete link to read the letter.
Can someone find a private letter by name?
Search may show a sealed notice for that name or code name. The words and photos stay encrypted; the complete private link is needed to open them.
What can I add to a letter?
You can add a theme, photos, stickers, a custom background, and optional music. Music can come from an Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube link, or from audio you upload with permission.
Can I change my mind about Public Browse later?
Choose carefully before sending. A sent letter has no self-service delete button, and other people may save copies of public content. You can contact us about a privacy or rights concern.
What if I lose a private link?
We cannot recover its key from the stored letter. History can keep the link in this browser, and you can export private recovery links for your own backup. Keep those links somewhere safe.
How long do uploaded photos and audio stay?
Uploaded letter media, including photos, custom stickers, custom background photos, and audio, is removed after about three months. The written letter and embedded music links remain. Some older private letters may still hold encrypted media bytes that cannot be separated without the key, even though that media stops appearing.
Can I report a letter?
Yes. Open the letter and use its report action. You can describe your concern without sharing a private letter's contents; sharing a separate readable copy for review is your choice. See Rights & reports for how review works.
